IBM302map.inp is an Rmap input file constructed according to the instructions in chapter 6.1.2 of the QTL cartographer manual. It contains the map information for the IBM302 population. The distances between the markers are those provided by the maize mapping project (downloaded from http://www.maizemap.org/ on 3 December 2004). If you want to use a subset of markers you can delete markers in that file. You may also wish to re-compute the distances. Run Rmap using this file as input to generate a QTL cartographer map file. IBM302cross.inp is an Rcross input file constructed according to the instructions in chapter 6.3.2 of the QTL cartographer manual. It contains the marker scores and traits data for the IBM302 population. The markers scores are those provided by the maize mapping project (downloaded from http://www.maizemap.org/ on 3 December 2004). You can paste your traits between "-start traits" and "-stop traits" near the bottom of the file and change the number for "-traits" near the top of the file accordingly. Run Rcross using this file as input to generate a QTL cartographer cro file. One trait "Leafgreenness" is provided as example. It is a measurement of leaf greenness measured by absorption of red light in the third leaf of 14 days old seedlings grown in a growth chamber. Yvan Fracheboud, 3 January 2005. Note: IBM302cross.inp was updated on 1 February 2005 by Steve Szalma such that on the second line the -Cross RI specification was replaced with -CrossRI2. This makes the file compatible with QTL cartographer for UNIX. Other platforms have not yet been tested.
